Declare your assets at the end of your tenure, CCB warns outgoing political office holders

A warning has been issued to all outgoing elected and appointed political office holders to declare their assets at the end of their tenure, to avoid any form of scrutiny and eventual sanctions.

The call was made in Kano State by the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) which called on affected political office holders to declare their assets in line with amended provisions of the 1999 constitution.

That much information was contained in a statement made made available to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano on Saturday by the CCB state Director, Umar Saulawa.

“We want to remind all the outgoing elected and appointed political office holders in the state to come forward to the Bureau’s office to collect their assets declaration form,” he said.

Saulawa also used the opportunity to further warn that anyone who failed to comply with the directive will face necessary sanctions.

Recall that a former Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) was recently convicted by the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) for offenses related to non declaration of assets.
