Defection fever grips Oyo Assembly as Speaker, 6 others change parties

Seven lawmakers of the Oyo State House of Assembly including the Speaker, Olagunju Ojo, the Minority Leader, Ademola Ige, on Tuesday defected to three different parties.

The lawmakers defected from Labour Party (LP), and Accord Party to the All Progressives Congress (APC), African Democratic Party (ADC), and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The Speaker who represents Orire constituency, Mrs. Wunmi Oladeji (Ogbomoso North), and Solomon Olukayode (Ogbomoso South), dumped LP for APC.

Also Gbenga Oyekola (Atiba) defected from LP to ADC. He was joined to the party by the Minority Leader, Ige (Ibadan South-East II), and Fatai Adesina (Ibadan South-East I), the two lawmakers defected from Accord Party.

Peter Oyetunji (Labour Party-Ogo Oluwa/Surulere), on the other hand defected to the (PDP).

Separate letters of defection by the lawmakers were read during the plenary session in Ibadan by the Clerk of the House, Paul Bankole.
