DELTA: Double mourning as policeman kills man at funeral

It was double mourning at a burial ceremony at Emede, in the Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State when a trigger-happy policeman gunned down a 34-year-old man identified as Fred Igueriede.

Reports say the cop opened fire after the victim (father of two) attempted to exchange pleasantries with his former employer, one Chief Johnny Aribogha who came with the policeman as his security detail.

Mr. Governor Ogbon, brother of the deceased who was confirmed dead by doctors at the Olomoro General Hospital accused Aribogha of masterminding the murder of his brother following the incident which saw two other people sustain gun wounds as other policemen at the ceremony fired continuously in the ensuing confusion.

Ogbo, brother of the deceased said; “The deceased was married with two kids. On August 19, 2017, he was invited for a burial at Emede town by one Mr. Joe Akugbowe, whose mother-in-law died.

“Incidentally, my brother worked for one Chief Johnny Aribogha, who was also invited for the burial by Akugbowe. Akugbowe is Chief Aribogha’s tenant.

“When my brother saw his former boss at the burial, he went in his direction to greet him.

“As he was approaching him, one of the riot policemen attached to the chief opened fire on my brother. My brother was hit in the stomach and he died on the spot.

“Two other persons, a man and a woman, were also shot. We suspect foul play in the way my brother was killed.

“Up till this moment, we have not heard from Chief Aribogha and his friend (Akugbowe), to know what actually killed my brother.”

However, the trigger-happy cop according to the Delta State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Zanna Ibrahim has been arrested and is currently being held at the Police Headquarters in Asaba where he is reportedly undergoing investigation.

The police man was not supposed to leave the burial alive. His corpse ought to be buried in that same burial ground the same day.

The devil definitely used the policeman to cause more sorrow! The deed has been done, there’s no punishment that will bring back the person he killed back to life.

Are we going to call it accidental discharge or intentional discharge? The policeman misused his gun and added more sorrow to a sorrowful burial! How sure are we that he underwent proper force training before they handed a gun over to him?

Policeman and bribe, he taught his former employee will give him more money as they have seen for long. Well, no medicine after death but he should go join the man he killed

The chief Arigboha should be arrested as well, who ever can tell it was a concerted plan to eliminate the people killed
