DELTA GUBER POLL: APC's Ogboru files petition against Gov Okowa's victory

The Delta State Election Petitions Tribunal has received a petition challenging the declaration of the incumbent governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as winner of the March 9 governorship election.

According to the Secretary of the tribunal, Ahmed Gusau, the petition challenging Okowa’s announcement by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was filed by the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Great Ogboru.

Gusau while addressing newsmen in Asaba revealed that the tribunal received as much as 50 petitions but only Ogboru’s petition contested Okowa’s victory.

He said the other petitioners challenging the outcome of the National Assembly and state House of Assembly elections were filed against senators-elect including James Manager of the PDP (Delta South), Ovie Omo-Agege of the APC (Delta Central) and Peter Nwaoboshi of the PDP (Delta North).

It is of note that since he started vying for the position of governor on the platform of various opposition parties in 2003, Ogboru has always contested the outcome of elections he has been involved in.
