DELTA: Lawmaker storms herdsmen’s den, retrieves corpse of murdered farmer

A search team on the trail of a farmer declared missing, last Wednesday, after he was attacked by assailants suspected to be herdsmen at his farm, has found his lifeless body.

The search team which stormed an enclave of herdsmen operating in the Abraka area of the state was led by Evance Ivwurie, the member representing Ethiope East in the Delta State House of Assembly.

Reports say on arrival at the enclave, the team found and recovered the lifeless body of the farmer which was riddled with bullets fired by the runaway herdsmen.

Reacting to the kidnap and killing of the farmer identified as Mr. Happy Akpomiemie, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Muhammed Mustafa said the command will henceforth go hard on anyone in the state who fails to embrace peace.

Mr Akpomiemie, his wife, Patience and son, Elvis were reportedly attacked at their cassava farm in Abraka by the herdsmen who shot his wife on the back while the farmer was declared missing thereafter.
