DELTA: Non availability of ink for thumbing result sheet delays voting

Voting has been delayed in some polling units in Ogwashi-Uku, Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta due to the non availability of ink for thumbing result sheet, reports say.

Confirming the non availability of the ink, an INEC ad hoc staff, at Ward 3 Ogwashi-Uku identified simply as Juliet, said a message has been sent to her supervisor over its non availability, but she did not get an immediate response.

“We arrived here at about 8:55 am, but could not commence accreditation and voting due to unavailability of ink for stamping of result sheets and thumb-printing.

“We have sent a message to our supervisor, but did not get immediate response and that is why the voters are complaining.

“However, we made efforts on our own and that is why we are starting late,” she said.

Reacting to the development, Ashinze, the President-General of the Ogwashi-Uku Development Association, expressed disappointment over the matter.

“It is so disappointing that we are talking about lack of ink today. This is a big flop on the part of INEC,” he said.
