Today’s governorship and state assembly elections in Delta State turned bloody after gunmen opened fire on some polling units.
According to reports, the incidence occurred while results were being collated in Ughelli South Local Government Area of the state, leading to the death of at least one person, with several others sustaining injuries.
The dead person was said to have been shot at Iwhrekan community while others whom were equally attacked, were ambushed at Oviri-Olomu and Ovwookpokpo communities.
A source at the Ughelli Central hospital, who confirmed the incidence, said a gunshot victim was rushed to the hospital alongside several others who received cuts on their bodies.
Speaking on the incident, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the area, said all those attacked are members of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
