Like Akpabio, ex-Gov Udaughan set to dump PDP

Former Delta State Governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan has rejected the result of the Delta South senatorial election which produced Senator James Manager of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as winner.

Uduaghan, who is the immediate past governor o Delta State, was the Senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Saturday’s National Assembly election.

Uduaghan, the election was fraught with massive irregularities, ballot stuffing, intimidation and electoral violence by supporters of the PDP.

Uduaghan, in a statement issued on Tuesday by his Media Assistant, Monoyo Edon, said he had already petitioned the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, about “the electoral malpractices” following the official release of the result which declared his opponent winner.

It would be recalled that INEC had declared Senator Manager as the winner of the Delta South election, having polled 258,812 votes to defeat Uduaghan, who scored 125,776 votes.

The former governor however thanked the people of the district for their support, urging to remain calm while reviewing the development.
