Delta Speaker drums support for Gov Okowa 2019 re-election

The Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Monday Igbuya on stated that nothing can stop the re-emergence of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as helmsman of the oil rich state.

Igbuya while speaking at a thanksgiving service to mark the first anniversary of the Sixth Assembly in the state, said “The PDP is fully planted everywhere in Delta State. Nothing will threaten Okowa’s re-election in 2019. We will stand by him”.

Igbuya who spoke on governorship location in 2019, tenure and other matters stated that  “By the legislative rule, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa is the 30th member of the Delta State House of Assembly. He is a miracle working governor. Delta State should count itself as blessed for producing somebody like Okowa.

“He has performed well under an unfriendly economic situation and will continue to do his good work for the state” he said.

He continued that “it is the interest of Delta State for Okowa to continue in office beyond May 2019”, and urged Deltans at home and abroad to continue to pray for Governor Okowa.

Meanwhile, the Delta State House of Assembly has suspended one of its members over alleged legislative misconduct.

A statement by Henry Ebireri, chief press secretary to the Speaker,said Hon. Reuben Izeze, the representative of Ughelli South state constituency, was suspended for three months for allegedly bringing the House to disrepute.

The Majority Leader of the House, Hon Tim Owhefere moved the motion.

“He is hereby suspended for a period of three months” the Speaker, Rt. Hon Igbuya said during the plenary on Tuesday.

In another development, the House recalled the suspended chairman of Ndokwa East Local Government Area, Mrs. Nkechi Chukwura,
