DELTA: Okowa’s aides join 5,000 PDP members in mass defection to APC

The Delta State government has confirmed its first case of the deadly COVID-19 disease which has fast spread across the country.

Governor Okowa who revealed the development in a post on his official Twitter page on Tuesday night, disclosed that the patient was already receiving treatment at its isolation center.

Okowa wrote on Twitter, “This evening, a patient in Delta State tested positive for the #COVID19 virus. This index case is already receiving the necessary treatment at one of our isolation centers.

“Tomorrow morning, I will be addressing our citizens on developments surrounding this case.

“Again, I ask that you all remain calm at this time and continue to adhere to the precautionary measures and isolation directives that we have put in place to keep you and your families safe. I have no doubt whatsoever that we will all get through this together,” he added.

This comes after the Kwara State government led by Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq ordered the total lockdown of Offa to contain the spread of COVID-19 after two cases of the disease were recorded in the ancient town.

Deputy Governor of the state, Mr Kayode Alabi who gave the order in the capital city of Ilorin in a statement on Tuesday said that the move was to contain community transmission and save people’s lives.
