Dembele happy to join 'dream club' Barcelona

French forward, Ousmane Dembele, says it is a fulfillment of dream to have completed a move from German side, Borussia Dortmund, to La Liga giants, Barcelona.

In the Bundesliga last season, Dembele made 32 appearances, scored 6 goals and made 12 assists as his side finished third on the table behind RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich.

The 20-year old, who last played for Dortmund in the German Super Cup on August 5, signed a five-year contract at the Nou Camp on Monday, for £135.5m.

Barca said Dembele’s contract has a release clause of £369.6m, as the young forward becomes the second most expensive player of all time, only behind Neymar who recently made a £200m move to Paris St-Germain.

Dembele said: “I’m very happy to be here. It has always been my dream to be at Barcelona and now I’m here I’m very happy.

“It is the best club in the world with the best players in the world. “It’s an honour to play with Leo Messi. He’s the best player in the history of football. I am here to learn.”

Officially, the £75m signing of Luis Suarez from Liverpool in 2014 was Barca’s most expensive previous purchase. Dembele becomes the club’s record transfer.

“Welcome @Dembouz. We are bringing in talent, youth and excitement to our team. All the best!” club president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, said after the signing.
