Denrele, naughty by nature…always

Published

on

Once again, Denrele Edun stirred up the question of whether maybe he is not gay after all.

When it comes to Denrele nothing surprises anyone anymore, but this time, he took it some notch higher as he strutted the AMVCA’s red carpet dressed like a girl who did not care about underwear;  He was outfitted in see-through gold lace material and gold braids.

The thing is, there was nothing girlie under the dress!

Danrele, a dancer, MC and red carpet host himself lives on and laps media attention and he got the full spotlight days ago, but not everyone liked what he looked like since the photos went viral. While people chuckled enjoying the sight, knowing who he is, he was also called names and other unprintable things and asked why the dress; why be a girl?

Agreeing he had gone overboard on this one, he is explaining why he was a girl at the red carpet.

He said he saw the material on a shelf in Tiannah’s place, owned by Toyin Lawani and immediately decided he wanted to look like the AMVCA statuette. The dress and almost everything he wore, including his braids, was designed by Elegante by Tiannah Styling.

“It is 24-carat gold and I just looked at it and I said to myself, ‘why not strut out something that reeks of the statuette?”’ Denrele said to reporters. “And I wanted to look like a statuette tonight. I know I went a bit overboard with it.”

Typical of him to throw in humour, he said, “I mean my back is all in the open and I am hot. I do not know how you ladies do it. My back is so sweaty that I had to tell everyone who wants to hug me to put their hand on my butt instead of my back. It is quite difficult to maneuver as well but this is what I’m going to rock the after party with.”

Well, he got his spotlight, mission accomplished.
