Despite grumblings, Minister Onu insists Buhari has delivered

The Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, has argued that President Muhammadu Buhari has delivered the campaign promises his party the All Progressives Congress (APC) made to Nigerians.

He also maintained that the President is securing the nation, has done very well in the North-East as well as brought rule of law to bear in the country.

Onu spoke to newsmen during the first annual public lecture and book presentation in Abuja in honour of the late Minister of State for Labour, James Ocholi (SAN).

Ocholi from Kogi State, died in a motor accident on March 6, 2016 along with his wife and son.

While regretting the death of Ocholi, who according to the minister possessed great potentials the country needed to achieve greater heights, Onu said that the government would immortalise him to ensure his legacies and good attributes do not perish.

Responding to questions on perceived failure of President Buhari to fulfill the promises his party APC made to Nigerians, Onu argued that his party is delivering on its manifesto.

He said, “The President, during his campaign, campaigned on the basis of what the manifesto has said, and as the President, he has delivered. He is securing the nation, he has done very well in the North-East, he has brought rule of law.

“Today, people think twice before they can do anything that will undermine the best interest of the nation and he is working very hard. We are all supporting him to rebuild our economy.”

According to Onu, a lot of policies had been put in place by Buhari’s administration and these policies he said, by the end of 2017, will begin to yield tangible results for Nigerians to see.
