Diesel heads for N240 per litre, stirs fresh energy crisis

Published

on

The price of automotive gas oil (AGO) also known as diesel on which the economy is heavily dependent is heading for N240 per litre, fuelling fresh energy crisis for the manufacturing sector in the country.

New Telegraph gathered exclusively at the weekend that the upward swing in price, which is already being noticed in filling stations in Lagos, was buoyed by the rising price of crude oil, which, at the weekend, hit $62 per barrel mark at the international market.

The Diesel Price Watch by Nigeria Bureau of Statistics (NBS) had earlier showed that the average price paid by consumers for diesel decreased by 5.83 per cent to N184.80 in September 2017 from N196.23 in August 2017.

Diesel price is deregulated and, high price of crude at the international market automatically affects its price.
