DIEZANI BRIBE: INEC staff to choose 2yrs jail or N10m fine for receiving N30m

Justice Idris of a federal high court in Lagos has imposed a sentence of two years imprisonment or a N10million fine on Christian Nwosu, a staff of the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) who pleaded guilty to collecting N30 million naira bribe.

The money was said to be part of a bribe money allegedly dished out by a former minister of petroleum resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke in the run up to the 2015 general elections.

What kind of stupid judgment is this? So if he’s pays #10m ,then he squanders the rest #20m, or go to jail for 2 years, comes back and enjoy the whole money. This judge is irrational.

The sharing formular is clear, she will pay N10m as bail, N10m to the judge and she’ll keep N10m to herself. Nigeria’s judiciary will never change, useless people!

Everyone is bribable, #10m for judge covers his one year salary so leave him alone .

We need to have more of judgement like this, no delay and reasonable. I like this judge, but the court should also make sure he gives the federal government the original N30m bribe before paying 10 N10m bail or going to jail for 2 years

No, hat we need is judgement that will throw corrupt people into jail without any option for fine. If the judge throw the useless man to two years jail term, his colleagues will learn from him. But fine? He will look for the money to pay

Hahaha. They must have bribed this judge before the verdict. Efcc should quiz the judge. This is an unfair justice

They can’t quiz him. No one is a perfect judge .that is what his own instincts told him to deliver as judgement and there is nothing we can do about that.
