DIPLOMATIC ROW: Kuwait meets Saudi King over Gulf Arab dispute with Qatar

Kuwait’s emir, Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah will meet with King Salman of Saudi Arabia as diplomatic crisis hits the Gulf of Arab over hacking dispute which revealed leaks and comments falsely attributed to Qatar’s emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

The ruler of Kuwait who will be acting as a mediator, between Qatar and other Arab states which have severed diplomatic and transport ties with the oil rich country has also urged Qatar to calm tensions with allies and refrain from escalating dispute.

The comments which came to the open after the hack has set Qatar against the Gulf’s Arab countries, forcing Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, UAE and Egypt to cut ties with the oil rich country.

On Monday, the Saudi government made the announcement via its state-run Saudi Press Agency early on Monday, saying it was taking action for what it called the protection of national security- an announcement which was followed by a statement issued by Bahrain which said it was cutting ties with Qatar and halting air and sea traffic between the two countries.

In it reaction, Qatar called the decision by Gulf nations and Egypt ‘unjustified’, saying allegations against Doha have ‘no basis in fact’.
