The Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress on Tuesday challenged state governors to disclose their security votes and how local government funds were disbursed.
The NLC and the TUC also said that it was high time the National Assembly gave full details of its N115b budgetary allocation.
The President of the Trade Union Congress, Mr. Bala Kaigama, and the General Secretary of the NLC, Dr. Peter Ozo-Eson, stated these in different telephone interviews with The PUNCH.
Kaigama was reacting to the decision of the Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, to release the details of his security vote, salary and allowances, on Monday.
He said that it was important for the governors and the federal lawmakers to disclose the details of their security votes and budgets to Nigerians.
He stressed that while governors hid under security votes to embezzle state funds, the lawmakers mismanaged public funds by hiding the details of their budgets.
