What I discussed with Buhari – Abdulsalami

A former Military Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar (retd.), said that he visited President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday to discuss national and international issues with him.

This was what Abubakar told State House correspondents after a short meeting he had with Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

All the efforts by the media to fish out specific details of the meeting from the former military ruler prove abortive as he refused to make it public.

“I came to discuss issues of national interest and international affairs with the President. Both of them are interwoven. I have discussed with the person I came to see and I don’t think I need to discuss it in the news media,” Abubakar only disclosed.

But reacting to a claim that much has not been heard from him on national issues of late, he argued that he had been busy talking to those that needed to be talked to, adding that the National Peace Committee for the 2015 General Elections which he chairs was still working behind the scene.

“We are still working, although quietly, to make sure that there is peace in the country.

“I hope all Nigerians will give the present administration the necessary support to make sure that we overcome these crises that are unnecessary and uncalled for,” he said.
