Djokovic sets record at BNP Paribas Open

Five-time champion, Novak Djokovic extended his impressive winning streak at Indian Wells to record 19 matches after battling past Argentine Juan Martin del Potro in a third round clash in Southern California on Wednesday.

The world number two, who has not been beaten at the tournament since a defeat to Del Potro in 2013, got the better of his opponent this time around, winning 7-5, 4-6, 6-1.

The Serb also became just the third man after Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal to earn 300 ATP World Tour Masters 1000 victories. (Federer has 332 wins, Nadal has 319, now Djokovic is on 300 wins).

Djokovic will go on to the fourth round of the tournament to face Australian Nick Kyrgios, who moved past Alexander Zverev 6-3 6-4 on Tuesday.

The clash will be the second time the duo are meeting in championship. In the first, which was at the quarter-final at the 2017 Mexican Open, the world number 16 defeated Djokovic to lift the title.

Hence, fans of the sport will no doubt be intrigued to see how Djokovic will respond to losing his first ever meeting with Kyrgios, with the winner taking on either Federer or Nadal in the last-8.
