Dogara's defection to PDP settled as he submits form for House of Reps

The defection of Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is now settled.

Dogara was at the office of his former party to submit his Expression of Interest and Nomination Form.

This was made public by the PDP through their Twitter handle. The party said that the Speaker arrived its office with hundreds of supporters who also dumped APC for the opposition party.

“The Honourable Speaker of the House of Representatives, @YakubDogara has just submitted his Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms to the National Leadership of the @OfficialPDPNig. He was at the Secretariat with hundreds of decampees from @OfficialAPC,” the tweet read.

Dogara wants another four-year term in office under the platform of the opposition party. His dumping of the APC means that the two principal officers of the National Assembly are now members of the PDP, as the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has earlier joined the party and is currently seeking PDP’s presidential ticket.
