Dokpesi arrested, released after one hour of detention

Court insists Dokpesi must explain N2.1bn Dasuki money

Founder of DAAR Communications, owners of African Independent Television (AIT), and RayPower Radio, Dr. Raymond Dokpesi has been released after he was arrested at Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport, Abuja.

Reports say Dokpesi was picked up around 4pm on Friday on his return to the country, after seeking medical treatment in Dubai.

His arrest was made known via the Twitter account of AIT, which noted that no reason was given for the arrest.

“Breaking: Chief Raymond Dokpesi has been arrested at Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport on return from medical treatment/operation at the American Hospital Dubai.

“Reasons have not been given yet for the arrest,” the tweet read.

The release of the media mogul was also confirmed via the same channel which revealed that Dokpesi was released ‘after over an hour of detention.

The tweet read, “Media magnate, Raymond Dokpesi, has been released after over an hour of detention at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja, on Friday afternoon.”

Reasons have not been given yet for the arrest, neither has the agency which effected the release been known.
