“I don’t care about human rights” –New Philippine leader declares
Incumbent Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has declared that he doesn’t care about human rights after vowing to maintain his “shoot-to-kill” order against drug dealers.
Duterte’s comments are coming after he named several government officials, including judges, members of Congress and military officers accusing them of having links to the illegal drug trade.
The President declared that the officials he accused would have their day in court, but quickly added while reading the list that “my mouth has no due process”.
Duterte had vowed to keep his “shoot-to-kill” order “until the last day of my term, if I’m still alive by then”.
“I don’t care about human rights, believe me,” he said, according to official transcripts released by the presidential palace.
