A former Kogi West senator, Dino Melaye, has asked Nigerians not to celebrate the announcement of the new service chiefs yet.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday announced the retirement of the former service chiefs and their replacement with new ones.

The development came after consistent calls from different quarters, including the National Assembly, for the president to sack the former service chiefs over worsening insecurity in the country.

Their eventual removal on Tuesday saw some Nigerians applauding Buhari.

But Melaye, in a post on his official Twitter handle Tuesday night told Nigerians:

“Dont shout Hallelujah or Alhamdulilihi for the locomotive announcement of new service chiefs. Not Uhuru yet. Shine your eyes Nigerians.”
