Don’t pick lobbyist as Super Eagles coach’

chukwu FORMER Super Eagles Coach, Christian Chukwu, has advised the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) not to be deceived by those he termed as ‘lobbyist’ in picking a coach for the Super Eagles.

Chukwu also warned the Amaju Pinnick-led NFF board Wednesday to do away with any form of sentiments in taking its final decision on who becomes the next Super Eagles manager.

Speaking with The Guardian, the former Green Eagles defender and team captain stated that the NFF should expedite action in announcing a new coach for the team, stressing that the delay was capable of truncating the transformation process of the board.

The former Harambee Stars of Kenya handler wondered why the football body had not roll out programmes that would be channeled to revamp the Eagles immediately the team failed to qualify for the 2015 Africa Nations Cup holding in Equatorial Guinea.

He pointed out that the NFF should get a credible coach for the Eagles on time to enable him build a solid national team that would stand the taste of time.

Chukwu also added that if the right coach were hired for the Eagles, he would have the right technical abilities to source for talents within and outside the country.

“I am not confortable with the way the NFF is delaying the hiring of a new coach for the Eagles. NFF should act as a professional body that knows its onions by getting a new coach for the Eagles and the process must be devoid of sentiments and lobby from any quarter.

“It is embarrassing that adequate measures have not been put in place to reform the Eagles after about four months of crashing out of the Nations cup. NFF should act fast to enable the team have direction,” he said.

Chukwu also commended the Home-base Super Eagles for their fine performance in the warm up tie against Cote d’ Ivoire in Abu Dhabi.
