Driver steals N10.3 goods, heads to Church to confess

The long arm of the law has caught up with Dominic Nege, a factory driver who allegedly stole goods worth the sum of N10.3 million belonging to Rabel Nigeria Limited, a subsidiary of International Breweries.

Reports say the suspect was sent by his employers to deliver 143 crates of beer at Bonny Camp, Victoria Island, Lagos but he allegedly went AWOL switching off his phone and diverted the goods.

After futile efforts to reach him, his employers reported the matter to the police who launched a manhunt for him.

The suspect was later arrested by men of the Lagos State Police Command in Benue State.

In his confessional statement, the suspect said; “I was arrested inside a church in Benue State. I was in the church to pray for forgiveness and confess to the pastor because I did not have peace of mind.

According to Edgal Imohimi, the state Commissioner of Police, the suspect was arrested by operatives of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad.

He said, “Efforts to arrest the suspect paid off on Monday, June 11, 2018, when he was traced to Makurdi, Benue State. During interrogation, the suspect led detectives to the Sangotedo area of Ibeju Lekki, where the Mitsubushi truck, with number plate, JJJ 873 XJ, was abandoned after he had disposed of the goods.”
