DSS to review Dasuki, others detention

The Department of State Services (DSS) on Wednesday produced the former National Security Adviser (NSA) Sambo Dasuki, to testify in the ongoing trial of the former Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mr. Olisa Metuh.

Dasuki, dressed in light blue native attire with a cap to match was brought to the court by DSS operatives on Wednesday, to testify in Metuh’s trial.

The security outfit had failed to produce Dasuki on Tuesday as ordered by Justice Okon Abang of the federal High Court, Abuja.

This had prompted Metuh’s lawyers to ask for an order of arrest to be issued against the Director-General of the DSS, Lawal Daura, for failing to produce Dasuki in court.

Abang however, ruled that it was too early to conclude that the DSS intentionally flouted his order.

However, the counsel to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Mr. Sylvanus Tahir, had told the court that the delay was not the fault of the DSS, as its Legal Adviser had informed him over the telephone that Dasuki refused to be brought to court except by force.

According to him, Dasuki later agreed to appear in court after much persuasion.

The EFCC is prosecuting Metuh and his company, Destra Investments Limited for alleged fraud in receiving about N400 million from the office of the NSA while Dasuki held that office under the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
