After DSS raid, Buhari appoints 2 new justices for Supreme Court
Coming on the heels of recent arrest of seven judges in the country, after a raid on their residences by the DSS, President Muhammadu Buhari has forwarded the names of two judges to the Senate for confirmation as justices of the Supreme Court.
It would be recalled that two Supreme Court justices were among those arrested by the Department of State Services, DSS for alleged corruption and professional misconduct.
According to the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, who read the request letter from President Buhari during Tuesday’s plenary, those nominated are Paul Jauro from Taraba State (North East) and Sidi Bage from Nasarawa State (North Central).
Justice Bage, born on June 22, 1956, became Federal High Court Judge in 1992 before his appointment as Justice of the Court of Appeal in 2000.
Born in 1954, Jauro became a judge of the High Court in 1998 and was appointed Justice of the Court of Appeal in 2008.
They were nominated by the National Judicial Council, NJC.
