DSS releases Ekiti Lawmaker, Akanni

The Department of State Security Services (DSS) has released detained Ekiti Lawmaker, Afolabi Akanni, who had been in their custody for several days. Ripples Nigeria gathered that he was let go Tuesday evening.

The lawmaker had been the subject of controversy since he was arrested and detained without trial. The Ekiti State government had, in its bid to raise public consciousness of Mr Akanni’s travails, alleged that he had died in detention. This was denied by the DSS who quickly paraded him to douse apprehensions.

Mr Akanni who appeared to be in great pains was, thereafter, returned to DSS custody.
The lawmaker was pictured lying on a hospital bed soon after his release on Tuesday.
