D'Tigress coach Vincent eyes greater success in 2018, calls for support

African Women Basketball champions, D’Tigress are happy for their success this year and are looking forward to achieving even more in 2018, their coach, Sam Vincent has revealed.

Vincent steered the Nigerian ladies to FIBA AfroBasket success in Mali last August, thus sealing their qualification for the next FIBA Women’s World Cup in Spain.

Speaking to Complete Sports, Vincent admitted that the team had “had a great moment this year” and that they are “happy and looking forward to a successful 2018.”

He added: “We are hoping to do more and achieve more next year with the support of everybody.

“I must thank all members of the Nigeria Basketball Federation, NBBF and other citizens for their support.

“I am here monitoring the players and I am happy they are not doing badly in the season.”

The American also won the 2003 and 2005 editions of the AfroBasket with D’Tigress and once led the senior men’s team D’Tigers to the FIBA World Championship in Japan 2006.

The FIBA Women’s World Cup will hold in September next year.
