D’Tigress now eighth best team in the world
Nigeria women’s basketball team, D’Tigress are now the eighth best team in the world.
The Nigerian women, who made the nation proud during the recently-concluded Olympic Games in Paris, ranked in the position to stay top in Africa.
Mali, Senegal, Mozambique and Cameroon complete the top five teams in Africa.
The latest ranking was released by the Federation of International Basketball Association (FIBA) on Thursday.
The Rena Wakama side moved up four places following their remarkable performance in Paris.

Ripples Nigeria recalls that D’Tigress recorded impressive victories against top ranked opponents; Australia and Canada, before falling against eventual winners USA in the quarter-final.
Before exiting, they entered the history books as the first African team to qualify for the quarter-final at the Olympics.
The Nigerian ladies have now made history as they become the first African team (male or female) to be ranked in the top 10.
Meanwhile, USA retained their position as the best team in the world, ranking top followed by Australia in second position.
France, China and Spain complete the top five of the ranking.
