Dutch club sacks Oliseh over abysmal management skills

Ex-Super Eagles captain and coach Sunday Oliseh has been sacked by second tier Dutch side Fortuna Sittard after what they described as his poor working relationship with both players and officials at the club.

The Dutch side which noted that Oliseh has been placed on ‘non-active’ duty, also revealed that the decision to relieve the ex-footballer of his services was not caused by the team’s results as he has already qualified the team for the promotion playoffs.

Following the latest development, Fortuna Sittard released an official statement which reads thus; “Fortuna Sittard immediately puts coach Sunday Oliseh on non-active.

“The club management makes this decision as a result of the repeatedly culpable actions for a longer period by the trainer towards several persons in the organisation.

“Several attempts by the club to move the trainer to other behaviour were unfortunately without result, resulting in an unworkable situation.

“The board of Fortuna Sittard emphasises that the decision to disband Sunday Oliseh is not motivated by the current sporting performance.

“Because of his inadmissible actions, the coach has made the cooperation with many people within the organization impossible from players to employees.

“Fortuna Sittard regrets the decision, but states that the club interest goes above all else.”

Recall that the heady nature of Oliseh also made him walk out of his job as the coach of the Super Eagles in 2016 following a frosty working relationship with senior officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
