Early morning blast rocks Edo community, six houses destroyed

An early morning explosion rocked the Benin City area of Edo State on Friday.

At least six houses were affected in the explosion which occurred at No 4, Dumez Street, Auchi Road, Benin City.

The state Commissioner of Police, Lawal Jimeta, who confirmed the incident, said police has commenced an investigation to ascertain the cause of the incident.

One of the landlords whose house was affected, Pastor David Iginua, told journalists the impact of the blast was enormous.

. He said: “I am Pastor David Iginua and my house is 42, Arete Street, off Benin- Auchi Road, Eyean. My house is just behind the scene of the explosion.

“As I sat there, all of a sudden, I heard a terrific sound. I looked, ran inside, I didn’t see what happened.
