2019: Banky W goes cap in hand, seeks funding for political campaign

Music executive cum R&B singer, Banky W has berated state governors for relaxing COVID-19 lockdown directives to enable Christians carry out their religious obligations during the Easter period.

The singer took to his Twitter page on Friday to question why the governors who before now banned public gatherings as part of measures to curb the spread of COVID-19 in their states, would decide to relax restrictions when recorded infections continue to increase by the day.

Banky W who rhetorically asked if the governors had an agreement with the COVID-19 disease also wondered whether the ravaging virus will go on holiday too to celebrate Easter.

“So for the State Governments that have suspended isolation & social distancing for Easter… do they have an agreement with the Corona virus that it will also go on Easter break as well? These our “leaders” sha. Kai,” he wrote.

Banky W’s comments come after the Rivers State government led by Governor Nyesom Wike temporarily relaxed the restrictions on large religious gatherings to enable Christians to carry out their religious obligations during the Easter period.

Governor Wike announced the ease of the restrictions on Thursday in the capital of Port Harcourt while also noting that the directive also permitted the Muslim community to observe their Jumaat prayers within the period.
