The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the governorship election in Edo State, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, has alleged that the All Progressives Congress, APC-led government, in connivance with the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, plan to re-write result for the election no matter the figures from polling units.
Ize-Iyamu, who state this on Sunday, said: “Party agents should not be allowed to see how voters vote; there should be safe distance. Illiterate voters should be assisted only by relatives, not by party agents.”
The former Secretary to the Edo State Government further called on eligible voters in the state to remain calm and law abiding, assuring that their votes would count and be protected on the rescheduled date for the election.
According to Ize-Iyamu, he and his party, the PDP, have resolved to be law abiding and decided to cooperate with necessary agencies in order to ensure a hitch free, free and fair election.
The Edo State governorship election, originally scheduled to hold on Saturday, 10 September, was postponed to September 28 after the Department of State Services, DSS and the Nigeria Police Force, NPF said they have intelligence report of threats by insurgents and extremists to attack some states in the country, including Edo during Sallah celebration.
