Edo dep gov escapes assassination attempt
The Edo State Deputy Governor, Dr. Pius Odubu, Saturday, escaped assassin’s bullet.
According to reports, the Deputy Governor, who has been having running battles with his principal, Governor Adams Oshiomhole, narrowly escaped being killed when he visited the secretariat of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Auchi, Edo State.
Some gunmen reportedly stormed the secretariat and opened fire on Odudu’s team, and others at the place, leaving a trail of blood in their wake.
At least four persons, including the Guard Commander of the Deputy Governor’s Police team were injured in the melee.

Odudu’s life may have well been saved by the Guard commander, who reportedly used his body as a shield to cover the deputy governor during the attack.
It would be recalled that Odubu, has been locked in a controversy with Oshiomhole over claims and counter claims of assassination attempts.
The Governor was reported to have accused his deputy of contracting herbalists to kill him, a claim Odubu denied.
