Edo House of Assembly Speaker tests positive for Coronavirus

The Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Frank Okiye, has become another top politician to test positive for the dreaded COVID-19 disease, also known as Coronavirus.

Okiye’s test result was announced by the state Deputy Governor, Phillip Shaibu during a briefing on Wednesday in Benin.

Shaibu also hinted that the state government was taking measures that curb further spread of the virus in the state.

Ripples Nigeria had earlier reported that the state Governor, Godwin Obaseki had gone into self isolation after two other top politicians he came in contact with; Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Abba Kyari and Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed tested positive for the virus.

Also, Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi tweeted on Wednesday that he had taken the Coronavirus test and embarked on self isolation since he came in contact with both Kyari and Mohammed.

Fayemi urged other state governors to self isolate and take the test.
