EDO: Ighodalo’s camp slams APC leaders for neglecting federal roads

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, and former governor of Edo State, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, have come under fire for their alleged indifference to the deplorable state of federal roads in the state.

At a campaign rally in Ekpoma on Thursday, the Director-General of the Asue Ighodalo Campaign, Matthew Iduoriyekemwen, lambasted the two APC senators for failing to include the rehabilitation of federal roads in their constituency projects.

“Look at our federal roads in Edo. It used to take me five to six hours to travel to Abuja from Benin, but now from Auchi to Benin can take you up to nine hours. Oshiomhole is a senator, Okpebholo is a senator, instead of them to use their constituency projects to work on the roads, they refused,” Iduoriyekemwen said in pidgin English.

He accused the APC senators of being more interested in pursuing their personal interests than in serving the people of Edo State.

Governor Godwin Obaseki, who attended the rally, urged voters to support Ighodalo, saying he was best positioned to build on the legacy of his administration.

“A blueprint for the development of the state for the next 30 years has been established, and we need to vote for Ighodalo to sustain this development agenda,” Obaseki said.

The state PDP chairman, Dr Tony Aziegbemi, also rallied party supporters to remain steadfast in their support and not allow the opportunity of producing the governor to slip away.

Ighodalo vowed to implement his manifesto, which he said was derived from discussions with stakeholders across the state.

He dismissed claims by political opponents that President Bola Tinubu was backing their candidate, saying Tinubu was a democrat who would not use the apparatus of the state to foist partisan political agenda.
