EFCC apprehends 6 suspected ‘Yahoo boys’ with exotic cars

Six suspected internet fraudsters, popularly called ‘Yahoo boys,’ have been arrested by Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibadan Zonal Office.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday, the Acting Head, Media and Publicity of the Commission, Tony Orilade, disclosed that five different models of exotic cars and laptops were recovered from the suspects.

According to the statement, other items recovered include mobile phones and several documents containing false pretenses from the suspects.

Orilade said the suspects, Tella Ibrahim, Awoniyi Abiodun, Oladele Wasiu, Olabiti Ajibola, Akeredolu Temidayo and Oyaremi Olabode, were nabbed during a raid of their apartments.

“The raid on an apartments within the Kolapo Ishola Estate in Akobo area of Ibadan led to the arrest of the six young men between the ages of 24 and 30.

“A series of intelligence gathered on them suggested that they were deeply involved in all manner of fraudulent activities, including love scam, through which they illegally obtain money from unsuspecting victims.

“They will be charged to court as soon as investigations are completed,’’ he said.
