For the second time this year, the unoccupied residence of the acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu was attacked by unknown gunmen on Tuesday who killed a policeman on guard at the premises.

According to reports, the premises which is a farmhouse located in Karshi in the Federal Capital Territory, was invaded by the gunmen who were involved in a gun battle with the policemen on guard.

The exchange of gunfire which occurred at about 10pm unfortunately witnessed the killing of a police sergeant who died after himself and another civilian working on the property were both subdued and beaten to a pulp.

“The policeman died from the beating,” a source close to the EFCC boss’ family disclosed.

Few months ago, the farmstead was placed under police security after an earlier attack on it which saw the premises ransacked in suspicious circumstances.

Not long after that, there was also a recent dawn attack on the EFCC office in Abuja in August.
“That was what warranted additional security around Mr. Magu and his family,” the source explained.

The motive behind the attack as at the time of filing this report still remains unclear with reports revealing that the unknown gunmen carted away some sheep and five cattle being reared in the premises.
