EFCC challenges Nigerian youths to join fight against corruption
The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, on Thursday urged Nigerian youths to join forces with the commission in the fight against corruption.
He made the call at a town hall meeting in Kano to commemorate the 2024 International Anti-corruption Day.
Olukoyode, who was represented at the forum by the commission’s Zonal Director, Ibrahim Shazali, emphasized the importance of youths in the fight against corruption.
He said: “Progress-inclined youths should be more vibrant in identifying with the activities of the commission.”
According to him, the EFCC has structures in place for active engagement with youths, including the Integrity Club for primary and secondary school students, and the Zero Tolerance Club for tertiary institution students.

Olukoyode also encouraged youths to expose corrupt practices in their neighborhoods, describing it as a whistleblowing opportunity.
“There is no way corruption can be tackled if we allow it around us without a challenge,” he added.
This is not the first time the EFCC has called on Nigerian youths to join the fight against corruption.
In 2020, the then-acting chairman of the EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, charged youths to take ownership of the fight against corruption and described them as the future of the anti-corruption fight in the country.
Also in 2021, the commission urged Nigerian youths to shun all forms of corruption with the Zonal Head of the EFCC in Gombe, Ibrahim Shazali, stating that the youth are the greatest assets of every society.
