Former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Bala Mohammed, has lost his eye popping Asokoro mansion to the EFCC, which has placed it under temporary forfeiture.
The mansion said to be worth N650m was seized alongside three duplexes in Apo area of Abuja belonging to his son, Shamsudeen.  The three duplexes are worth N222m.
Sources at the EFCC say the agency is investigating the ex-minister over alleged fictitious contracts of about N1billion, allocation of 12 choice plots worth billions of naira and 37 other commercial plots of land worth about N8 billion to a suspected front, Tariq Hammoud as well as the controversial N1 trillion Abuja land swap.
Also, the anti-graft agency is said to be investigating more than 16 companies linked with fictitious contracts awarded by Bala. They have placed under surveillance while owners have been interrogated.
Aside the owners of the companies, the EFCC has also reportedly interrogated  Bala’s son, Shamsudeen, Tariq Hammoud and top directors of the Federal Capital Territory administration.
The EFCC source disclosed that the ongoing probe of Bala followed petitions to the agency, including complaints dating back to 2013.
