FG sets stage for Fayose to fail, allegedly withholds allocation

The alleged plot against the Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, may have thickened, as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has frozen his personal bank account.

Fayose disclosed this at the premises of Zenith Bank, Ado-Ekiti, where he had his personal account, claimimg that he had gotten wind of plans by the Presidency to freeze his account some days earlier.

According to a source at the Bank, Governor Fayose was taken aback that his account was allegedly frozen on the order of the anti-graft agency.

The Governor also disclosed that he had earlier issued a counter-cheque to make withdrawal which was rejected by the bank located at Onigari, GRA in Ado Ekiti.

He described the action of the EFCC as criminal and illegal

Fayose, who cited Section 308 of the 1999 constitution, said he enjoys immunity as a sitting governor, urging the federal government to fight corruption within the ambit of the law.

It would be recalled that Fayoye had raised the alarm at a press conference on Sunday in Abuja, claiming the Federal Government was hatched a plan to use the EFCC against him by arresting his Chief of Staff and four members of the state House of Assembly, detain them indefinitely and force them to initiate impeachment proceedings against him.
