EFCC probes 8 SANs over payments into judges' accounts
Investigation into alleged corruption in the judiciary is intensifying as the EFCC, is currently investigating eight Senior Advocates of Nigeria, SANs.
The Senior Advocates, who have been invited by the EFCC for interrogation, were alleged to have made curious payments into the accounts of some judges.
According to sources, the EFCC intercepted some text messages and call logs prompting it to extend investigation to the senior lawyers, with four of them already questioned.
They however reportedly denied the allegation in their written statement to the EFCC.
A source at the EFCC disclosed that one of such payment was made to the bank account of a judge of the National Industrial Court, NIC, who had been invited for interrogation.
The source said: analysis of the call logs and text messages of one of the SANs, showed evidence of remittance and text messages acknowledging some payments between him and a judge of the National Industrial Court ( NIC).
He maintained that the  affected judge was invited for interrogation during the week, and that the commission is still forging ahead with investigations into acts of suspected corruption within the judiciary.
