EFCC quizzes Covenant University lecturer over N180m fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) have arrested and interrogated a senior lecturer of the IT department of the Covenant University, Otta, Ogun State, over an allegation that he diverted the sum of N180 million into his private account.

Reports say the senior lecturer was given a way by his lavish lifestyle which saw him fly back to his duty post in Otta in a chopper that landed at the premises of The Bells University, after spending the weekend with his wife at his posh Lekki residence in Lagos.

Further reports revealed that the unnamed University lecturer who had been put under surveillance by the University was mainly stealing school fees paid by the students.

It was revealed that the suspect described as ‘disingenuous inventor’ found a way of diverting school fees paid by the students of the University into his private account.

The case was promptly reported to the police, who arrested him and later handed him to the EFCC where he confessed to the crime and agreed to immediately refund the sum of N56 million naira in cash.
