EFCC reveals 9 new properties allegedly owned by Mrs Jonathan

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), in their investigation of former President Goodluck Jonathan’s wife, Patience, has discovered seven more properties belonging to her, it has been learnt.

Earlier in their investigation, the anti-graft agency had linked her with five choice buildings, including a-N5billion hotel in Abuja and has again discovered seven more properties allegedly owned by her.

Also discovered are two more hotels and a plaza, making the total of the latest discoveries nine properties.

EFCC detectives as learnt were in Port Harcourt (Rivers State) and Yenagoa (Bayelsa State) for some good number of days working hard to ascertain if truly four properties in the two cities are owned by Patience Jonathan.

The detectives were said to have after the investigations alleged that in Port Harcourt alone the former First Lady owns Former Customs Service officers mess, two duplexes at 2/3 Bauchi Street, Landed property at Ambowei Street, three luxury apartments of 4-bedroom each at Ambowei Street and Grand View Hotel on Airport Road.

In Yenagoa, properties EFCC detectives linked to her are two marble duplexes at Otioko GRA by Isaac Boro Expressway; Glass House on Sani Abacha Expressway, presently serving as office of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board; Akemfa Etie Plaza by AP filling Station, Melford Okilo Road; and Aridolf Resort, Wellness and Spa along Sani Abacha Expressway.

EFCC recently claimed that it has so far recovered N1billion and secured 24 convictions in the South-South alone.

According to a detective of the EFCC, the commission may invoke Section 7 of the EFCC Establishment Act 2004 on the affected properties after due verification.

The commission is said to have already written to the Head of the Civil Service in Bayelsa State to disclose to it the pay status and allowances of the former First Lady when she was the Permanent Secretary and to also, explain if she was paid in dollars, besides travelling estacodes during her days in office.
