EFCC storms Access Bank’s head office, arrests MD

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Friday stormed the head office of Access Bank in Victoria Island, Lagos and arrested its Managing Director, Herbert Wigwe.

The raid on Access Bank may not be unconnected to the anti-graft agency’s decision to extend its dragnet to the banking sector as it continues to investigate alleged abuse of public funds under the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

The EFCC had last week arrested the Managing Director of Fidelity Bank Plc, Nnamdi Okonkowo, over an alleged $115 million received from former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke.

Also, the agency stormed the headquarters of Sterling Bank where they picked the MD, Yemi Adeola, who is currently in their custody.
