A tragic scene played out in the city of Cairo, capital of Egypt, when a car crash sparked a deadly explosion outside the National Cancer Institute, killing no less than 19 victims and injuring 30 others in the process.

According to a statement issued by Egypt’s health ministry early on Monday, a speeding car collided with other vehicles causing the explosion late on Sunday.

Local authorities have reportedly launched immediate findings as to why the crash caused such a large explosion even as it is also not clear if the casualties were all from the vehicles involved in the explosion.
