Egypt FA confident Salah will be fit for World Cup

Following an injury that forced Mohamed Salah out early during the Champions League final on Saturday night, the Egyptian Football Federation has assured that the forward will make it to the World Cup.

The Egypt international could only play for 30 minutes for Liverpool as he left the pitch in tears after being pulled down by Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos.

The Premier League siee went on to lose the game 3-1, as manager Jurgen Klopp blamed the defeat on Salah’s early exit.

The boss told reporters after the game that the injury was “really serious” adding, “He is in the hospital for an X-ray. It’s either the collarbone or the shoulder itself. It doesn’t look good.”

“The situation with Sergio Ramos [and Salah] looked really bad and it was a shock for the team, we lost the positive momentum and they immediately came up,” he said.

But Egypt are confident Salah who helped his country qualify for the World Cup will be fit for the 2018 FIFA tournament in Russia.

They said their doctor has been told by Liverpool’s medical team that after an X-ray things are looking optimistic.

Via their official Twitter handle, the FA tweeted that Salah had his X-ray, showing he had a “sprain in the shoulder ligaments” and they are “optimistic” he would be fit for the global showpiece, which starts on 14 June.

Salah, who scored a total of 44 goals for the Reds this season, tried to carry on after the incident in the 26th minute.

But the pains appeared to be much as the winger was forced to leave the pitch a few minutes later and was replaced by Adam Lallana.

Real went on to win a third consecutive Champions League title and their 13th title since the inception of the competition.

A brace by Gareth Bale and an opener from Karim Benzema made of no effect a Sadio Mane equaliser, as the Zinedine Zidane side became Europe’s champions again.
