The Egyptian national team, the Pharaohs have warned the Super Eagles of what to expect when both teams clash in the 2017 Nations Cup qualifiers by defeating the Stallions of Burkina Faso 2-0 in an international friendly match at Alexandria’s Borg El-Arab stadium on Saturday.

Two goals from Ahly playmaker Abdallah El-Said, either side of the interval, gave Egypt – who were also without their foreign-based players, their second friendly win in a row, following a 2-0 victory over Libya last month.

Egypt, who haven’t reached the Africa Cup of Nations since last winning the title in 2010, travel to Nigeria on 25 March before hosting the west Africans five days later.

The Pharaohs are currently top of their Group G on six points, two ahead of rivals Nigeria who lie second.

Meanwhile, Egypt manager, Hector Cúper has played down the change of leadership in the Super Eagles, following the resignation of Sunday Oliseh as Eagles coach.

Cùper said, “I don’t see that as an advantage for us before we face them. Nigeria is a big team and has many stars playing in Europe so it won’t be affected if the manager quits.”

Egypt’s assistant coach, Osama Nabih also commented on the Oliseh resignation, as he said Egypt don’t care about Nigeria’s managerial situation.

“The Nigeria clash is in a month. The Oliseh departure may be good for us but we need to concentrate on ourselves,” Nabih told Al-Hayah TV.

“I heard they appointed Samson Siasia, which means they had a quick solution. The match is very important and we will target the three points to step forward towards AFCON qualification,” Nabih said.
