Egyptian police track down, kill 6 suspects in connection with Alexandria bombing

Six suspects involved in a deadly car bombing incident in the coastal city of Alexandria which claimed the lives of two soldiers have been tracked down and killed by security operatives in Egypt.

According to a statement by the Egyptian interior ministry, security forces discovered a “terrorist den” belonging to the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood’s armed wing, the Hasam movement.

“The interior ministry has dealt an effective blow to the armed wing of the Muslim Brotherhood … and exchanged fire with its elements, which led to the killing of six,” the statement said.

Reports say the attack which was targeted at the motorcade of Major-General Mostafa al-Nemr, head of security in Alexandria occurred near the Tolip Hotel on Saturday in Rushdi, a neighbourhood in Egypt’s second city.
